
- Jennett's Park covers a total of 270 acres of former farmland, previously identified as a location for housing to meet the needs of the District.
- The development will comprise of between 1300 and 1500 dwellings, approximately 91 acres of Country Park and approximately 12 acres of commercial use land to the north of Peacock Lane.
- When completed in 2013/14, Jennett's Park will have its own pub, retail area, doctor's surgery, healthy living centre and a two-form entry primary school. Equipped play areas will be located throughout the development as well as other leisure opportunities from the multi-purpose sports area to the all-weather hard surfaced ball court.
- Housing areas will be provided by some of the UK's leading housebuilders following an agreed Design Statement. This will ensure that continuity of approach and standards are maintained throughout the development, while still allowing designs to be individually adapted to the particular location on the development.
- A range of apartments through to two, three, four and five bedroom houses will be built including the provision of approximately 20 per cent affordable housing.
- Densities of houses will be varied through the development to encourage variety. Gateway and landmark buildings will also be used to define different areas.
- Jennett's Park has a number of historic features which will be retained and enhanced, such as Burnthouse Ride, West Garden Copse and the ancient woodland at Tarman's Copse.
- As well as preserving the existing woodland on the development, extensive landscaping and tree planting will take place in the early years of Jennett's Park.
- In Jennett's Country Park, tree species including Quercus Rubra (the Red Oak leaf shape used within the Jennett's Park logo), Alder and Ash will be planted.
- The Commercial Area to the north of Jennett's Park will also include a pub/restaurant, small business units, a park and ride facility as well as a proposed hotel with associated parking.
