Statement - Jennett's Park Primary School - 16th December 2008
Nick Scregg, spokesperson on behalf of the Jennett's Park consortium which consists of Redrow Homes (Southern) Limited and Persimmon Homes Limited, says:
“The timing of the provision of the Primary School at Jennett's Park is a matter for the Education Authority to determine. However, the Jennett's Park developers are obliged to provide financial contributions towards the school. The timing of these monies is triggered by the number of residential units (houses or apartments) which have been built on the site. These trigger numbers are defined in the Section 106 Agreement, which is the legal document that accompanies the Planning Permission for the development.
“At Jennett's Park the financial contributions for the Primary School are to be made available only after the 450th residential unit has been built on the site (to watertight specification). Based on the current projections, which have been recalibrated to match the current economic conditions, the 450th residential unit is now anticipated to be built in October 2009 (revised from April 2009).
“In light of these revised forecasts and the anticipated number of school-age children at the development, the Education Authority has decided to defer the opening of the School to September 2011 – a year later than originally planned.
“The site for the School will be available to the Education Authority and transferred to Bracknell Forest Borough Council in Spring 2009.”
