Jennett's Park Consortium applies to build Primary school at Jennett’s Park - 16th June 2011
The Jennett's Park Consortium, which consists of Persimmon Homes and Redrow Homes, has announced that it has submitted a planning application to Bracknell Forest Borough Council to build the primary school at its prestigious Jennett’s Park housing development.
The Consortium’s £3 million investment would ensure that, subject to planning permission, the school will be ready to accept its first intake of pupils at the beginning of the autumn term in September 2011.
The planning application was submitted to Bracknell Forest Council in May 2010 and it is due to be heard at a planning meeting in July. It is predicted that construction work will start in late summer this year.
Mike Owen, spokesperson for Jennett’s Park Consortium, comments:” The Consortium is working in partnership with Bracknell Forest Council in the planning for the primary school and is delighted that its construction is moving forward. The primary school will be very much at the heart of the Jennett’s Park community and we know that existing and prospective residents will welcome the news that, subject to planning permission, building work will soon be under way.”
The primary school will eventually have a two-form entry with facilities for 420 pupils. It will be sited within the Village Centre at the heart of the development and facilities will include 14 classrooms, an ICT resource centre and school hall and associated nursery school classrooms. Landscaping, including hard and soft play areas, will provide external learning and teaching space.
David Watkins, Chief Officer: performance and resources at Bracknell Forest Council said: “This is a very exciting time for Bracknell Forest and the community developing at Jennett’s Park. We have been working closely with Jennett’s Park Consortium and the planning application has now been submitted. We look forward to starting work on the state-of-the-art primary school later this year and welcoming new pupils in 2011.”
The timing for the provision of the primary school at Jennet’s Park was subject to the number of residential units built on the site and therefore the predicted associated number of school-age children at the development.
